Lomita
Broken Boy
Downtown Mystic / Indierect Records 2007
Dir: Jose Jones
This is one of those cases, where the band doesn/'t pick the director, but more so, the Director picked the band. Originally I had wanted to do a video for a song off their first album /'Stress Echo/'. The song was /'Green Eyes/' and was really dirty but almost dance-ish. I Imagined burning trash cans surrounding the band playing in a field while motorcycles spun around them. By the time I had freed up and could make the video for /'Lomita/' they were already about to release their new album /'Downtown Mystic/' and therefore prefered I do one of the new tracks. They gave me the album, and after I listened to it, I wanted to make a Video for every single song. We decided on /'Broken Boy/' for 2 reasons. /(1./) I had seen the song transform through many variations at live shows, before it found it/'s polished result. It went from a quiet almost solo number, to a rocked out soulful epic. and /(2./) Because I think the song sums up Lomita'/s full sound. it embodies their Slower more deeper sound, while also exploding from time to time with such hard rock, a metal head would nod in approval.
